Kenilworth Town Council – 8 Green Councillors since May 2019

The May 2019 election results have transformed Kenilworth Town Council after decades of Tory led councils.

The Green Party is now the largest group on the Council (one of only 3 Town Councils in England and the first in the West Midlands) and is working together with the Lib Dems and Tories to pursue a Green Front.

Climate Emergency

The council has declared a Climate Emergency, and Cllr John Dearing is leading a Climate Emergency Working Group by creating a Climate Emergency Roadmap to show how Kenilworth can achieve the carbon reductions required.

A key driver to the success of this essential work is that we have involved non-council individuals and groups from the community throughout taking in a wealth of local, professional expertise.

Action

The Green Voice is being put into action with K2L cycleway funding being secured, the creation of a Kenilworth Cycling Strategy and pressure on developers to meet the net zero carbon targets to name a few.

However, being on the Town Council means that we also must be active in other areas such as Tourism, Town Events, Planning, Council Finances and most importantly, representing the Kenilworth residents with any concerns and issues.

Your Thoughts

Kenilworth Green Party is putting residents front and centre by conducting various surveys to get residents’ voices heard. We continue to hold regular Action Days in the town which cover topics such as Air Quality and 20s Plenty which we believe are for the common good.
