Membership Engagement Officer
Summary of role
To be responsible for overseeing and develop all our activities regarding membership engagement, including communications.
Reporting to
Warwick District Committee (this role is a member of the committee)
Supporting
Keeper of the membership database, organisers of Green Drinks, Engage Events organisers, writers of e-news, organisers of ring rounds
Time Commitment
Min 4 hours a week
Tasks included in role
- Ensuring that Engage events and the Annual Gathering are planned and run well, coordinating the membership engagement team.
- Identify gaps in the membership engagement team and internally advertise these roles.
- Ensuring that advertising and communication for Engage and Annual Gathering go out regularly and in plenty of time, including:
- For Engage: inclusion in enews, setting up of registration link separate email including registration link to members and supporters, reminder email in final week, reminders in whatsapp groups, publishing on social media, limited ring round.
- For Annual Gathering: All the above plus full ring round, hard copy letter to members and supporters to be sent to print before Christmas and delivered between Christmas and New Year, by docmail if necessary.
- Ensuring that the dates, times, topics and locations of Annual Gathering and Engage Events are set out and agreed a year in advance to go out with the Annual Gathering letter.
- Ensure that new members and supporters receive a phone call from the area lead. If new or existing members /supporters show an interest in becoming more involved, ensure that they have conversations with a range of activists in an appropriate team and are encouraged to consider a suitable role.
- Check that Green drinks are regularly happening and that someone will be there if it’s been advertised.
- Identifying members and supporters for volunteer roles, especially vacant roles or key succession roles. Keeping the roles folder/ document up to date. Reporting vacant roles to the committee.
- With keeper of the membership database, ensure database kept up to date and that committee members and others feed in edits so we don’t miss information.
Skills needed
- Excellent people skills – ability to relate well to new members and supporters and not overwhelm them with too much intense Green Partery!
- Ability to oversee, coordinate and support a number of other membership related roles (see above)
- Proactive in identifying and encouraging members to step into roles for which they have potential
What help will I receive?
- Support from Warwick District Committee to identify possible local members and supporters who can step into roles
- Support from WM Field Organiser and training from WM Green Party
- Support to complete tasks from the rest of the membership team. This is not a role where you are expected to do everything, but the buck stops with you to ensure that it’s done!

Why is this role important?
To grow as a party we must grow the number of people active in clear, well defined roles who feel supported to contribute in an enjoyable and satisfying way. We need to clearly coordinate our various membership facing events to be effective.
