Tracey Drew – Candidate for Kenilworth Park Hill Ward
I’ve lived here for 10 years, and I was delighted to be elected as a Town Councillor in 2019. I’ve fostered children, run my own wildflower business and love the community spirit and groups – Kenilworth is a great place to live and can be even better.
Large projects, like the Land East of Kenilworth developments, present opportunities as well as challenges. I want to play an active role in the huge changes in housing we will have to cope with. I’m currently part of a group on the Town Council, planning how best to involve residents in deciding how community infrastructure levy monies from the developers are spent. I’m determined that residents are consulted on spending and ensuring that greater transparency is standard.
We Greens are working hard all year round. For instance, we are pushing constantly for new housing to be energy efficient, comfortable and cheap to run, for future generations, for the whole of the 21st century…and beyond.
On transport, achieving 20 mph speed limits in suitable areas with appropriate traffic calming to make roads less hostile for children would be a strong focus for me. We are determined to stop the proposed A46 road and to preserve the last remaining strip of Green Belt between us and Coventry. We are continuing to collaborate with neighbouring communities affected by HS2 to mitigate the effects. Warwickshire County Council must continue to respond as urgently to the climate emergency as have the Town and District Councils.
We will push for decision and policy making which prioritizes all these.
